With robust towing and payload capabilities, a powerful engine, and impressive tech, the 2024 Ford Ranger is the truck to turn to when you have a job to do. From the versatile XL to the off-road-focused Raptor, there’s a Ranger to suit everyone. We look at each trim to help you decide which Ranger is the one for you.
1. XL
Built for toughness and reliability, the XL is powered by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, delivering 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Even as a base model, the XL shines for its 7,500 pounds towing capacity and a max payload of 1,805 pounds.
The XL’s rugged design is enhanced by its black grille, LED reflector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, and 17-inch silver-painted wheels. An eight-inch digital instrument cluster relays Information to the driver, while the infotainment system consists of a 10-inch center stack display and an eight-speaker audio system. Ford has also equipped the XL with a good range of driver-assist features, including an analog rearview camera, auto high beams, cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.
2. XLT
Ford gives the XLT a technology boost, introducing a digital rearview camera and including some of the Ford Co-Pilot360 package as standard, such as lane-keep assist, reverse sensing system, and blind spot information. The XLT also keeps the XL’s eight-way driver and six-way passenger front manual bucket seats.
3. LARIAT
Ford has upped the luxury on the LARIAT, adding a gray grille, power-folding side mirrors, in-bed and in-cab power outlets, and a power-sliding rear window. The interior receives a comfort makeover, with a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and ambient lighting.
Tech upgrades come in the form of a larger 12-inch instrument cluster, a 12-inch central infotainment touchscreen, a wireless charging pad, and a Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker sound system. And, as if that wasn’t enough, Ford has also included intelligent access with push-button start, adaptive cruise control, and active park assist as standard.
4. Raptor
At the top end of the line is the Raptor, built for those wanting additional power and off-road capabilities. A 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 hides under the hood, producing an exciting 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The Raptor also boasts 10.7 inches of ground clearance, a watts link rear suspension, and extra large wheel-arch flairs for improved clearance and protection from kicked-up rocks and mud when traversing on rough terrain.
