There are three state parks near Detroit, MI, that everyone can enjoy this season! These parks have many options for the day trips and getaways you’re looking for in Michigan.

William G. Milliken State Park

The William G. Milliken State Park is the largest state park in Michigan, and it’s located only a few miles from Detroit. The park has more than 1,000 campsites, cabins, yurts, and shelters for overnight stays. Many of the campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the year; others require reservations.

The campground has many amenities, including hiking trails through pine forests and wetlands areas where you can spot birds, turtles, and other wildlife. You can also rent paddleboats at the park marina or take a scenic cruise on Lake St. Clair with an experienced captain who knows all about local history.

Belle Isle Park

Detroit’s most popular attraction, Belle Isle Park, is a beautiful place to spend the day. Located in the Detroit River, Belle Isle is an island park that has beaches, gardens, picnic areas, and an aquarium. The island also has a restaurant and historic lighthouse that visitors can tour. The Belle Isle Nature Zoo offers visitors a chance to see birds and other animals up close.

The park has plenty of activities for nature lovers, including biking trails and fishing spots. Visitors can also enjoy kayaking on one of the many lakes or take part in one of the guided tours offered by park staff. Visitors looking for more active activities may want to try rock climbing at the gorge or hike along one of the many trails located throughout the park.

Maybury State Park

The Maybury State Park is one of Michigan’s most popular parks. The park has over 1,000 acres of land and contains more than three miles of shoreline along Lake Huron. The park is mostly known for its sandy beaches and clear waters. Maybury State Park was established in 1922 with the goal of protecting Michigan’s natural beauty from development and exploitation.

The park is located on Lake Huron, which makes it a great place for water activities such as swimming, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. There are also several hiking trails at this park that allow visitors to explore the surrounding area on foot.
