The most popular SUV this year is the 2023 Ford Escape. Before you visit your Ford dealer to look at available models, learn about the standard features on each trim level.

The 2023 Escape has seven models for drivers to select from: Base, Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, ST-Line Elite, Platinum, and PHEV. Ford Co-Pilot360 technologies that are standard across all trims include road departure warning, post-collision braking, rearview camera, pre-collision assist, and BLIS with cross-traffic alert.

Base

The engine for the Base trim is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 180 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, although AWD disconnect is an available upgrade. This model has 17-inch steel wheels with Sparkle Silver-painted covers.

Active

This trim has the same engine, drivetrain, and transmission as the Base trim. The wheels for this trim are 17-inch Shadow Silver-painted aluminum wheels.

ST-Line

With the same engine, drivetrain, and transmission configuration as the previous two trims, the standout features of this model are all related to the dynamic exterior. Drivers also have the option of upgrading to a 2.5-liter hybrid engine, which can produce 163 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an electronic CVT drivetrain. The wheels for the ST-Line are 18-inch Rock Metallic-painted aluminum wheels.

ST-Line Select

The ST-Line Select has a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, which generates 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. An AWD Disconnect drivetrain and eight-speed automatic transmission are standard for this engine. Drivers can also choose the 2.5-liter hybrid engine from the ST-Line trim. This trim has the same wheels as the ST-Line.

ST-Line Elite

The powertrain configurations for the ST-Line Elite are the same as the ST-Line Select. The wheels for this trim are 19-inch machined-face Ebony-painted aluminum wheels. Drivers can also upgrade to 19-inch Ebony-painted aluminum wheels. This trim has an LED light bar between the front headlights.

Platinum

The Platinum trim has the same powertrain options as the previous two trim levels. The standard wheels for the Platinum trim are 18-inch machined-faced aluminum wheels with dark-tarnished painted pockets. Interior color options for this trim are Ebony and Space Gray.

PHEV

The final trim is the plug-in hybrid model. The PHEV engine is a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid powertrain, which can produce 163 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive and an electronic continuously variable transmission are standard for this trim. The electric-only range for this PHEV is 37 miles. The PHEV trim has 18-inch machined-face aluminum wheels with painted pockets.
