1. William G. Milliken Park

William G. Milliken Park, at 1900 Atwater Street, is a fantastic space near Detroit’s Riverwalk where you can see plenty of waterfowl. It’s one of the most scenic places in the city and a great place to go to check out the sunset. There are also plenty of amenities, a lighthouse, lots of shady green space to chill out in, and benches dotted all throughout the area.

2. Gabriel Richard Park

Gabriel Richard Park at 7650 E. Jefferson Avenue has gorgeous views of Belle Isle, plenty of shaded areas to picnic and relax, and many trails. You’ll find a pavilion, magnificent water features, a butterfly garden, bird-watching opportunities, and a massive labyrinth in the middle of the space. You can also go fishing at Gabriel Richard Park without even leaving the city.      

3. Roosevelt Park  

Roosevelt Park, at 2380 Dalzelle Street, is a unique place in Detroit because it’s an ample green space that also houses the Michigan Central Station. There are also ongoing events at Roosevelt, lots of on-site parking, and places to sit and picnic. Photographers will want to check out this place to see the unique architecture of the Michigan Central Station.

4. Grand Circus Park

Grand Circus Park, at 40 E. Adams Avenue, is conveniently located right in the middle of Detroit’s downtown core, and it’s a big five-acre area perfect for strolling and picnicking. Thanks to an on-site dog area, you can also feel free to bring your furry friends. One of the best aspects of this place is its proximity to all of Detroit’s restaurants and downtown activities, making it the ideal spot to spend the afternoon if you need to unplug and relax in nature.

5. Beacon Park

Beacon Park, at 1903 Grand River Avenue, is a charming spot with gardens, a vast green space, and lots of benches to sit and relax. It’s in the downtown core, making Beacon the ideal place for all different types of festivals and entertainment.
