2022 Ford Mustang

The 2022 Ford Mustang is a highly stylized sporty coupe in its sixth generation, which debuted in 2015. It comes in five different trims including the GT Fastback Premium and the Mach 1. For drivers looking for the ultimate Mustang driving experience, Ford offers the Mustang Shelby GT 500, a premium muscle car.

Basics About the 2022 Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang is the longest-running nameplate in the Ford lineup and the fifth bestselling vehicle of Ford’s offerings. It has been manufactured since 1964. Considered a pony car, it is a line of cars previously derived from other models created by Ford. It is a sporty coupe with a long front end and a short backend, the hallmark of the Mustang design.

New/Unique Features

Ford made no major changes to the 2022 Mustang. New exterior colors were added. The GT and Mach 1 engines lost 10 horsepower. This is due to state and federal regulations regarding emissions requirements. The Stealth Edition package debuted with its 19-inch aluminum ebony black painted wheels, performance rear wing, new clear LED taillamp covers, black mirror caps, and black pony badges.

Engine and Transmission

Two powerful engine options are available with the 2.3-liter 330 horsepower 4-cylinder or the 5.0-liter V-8 with 460 horsepower. The 5.0-liter V-8 in the GT model has 420 horsepower. The Shelby offers the most powerful engine of all with the 5.2-liter V-8 with an astounding 760 horsepower. These are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic transmission as an option.

Exterior

The 2022 Mustang takes its design inspiration from Mustangs designed around the years after 1969. The lines are sleek, strong, and aerodynamic. It has many of the touches from the original Mustangs from the pony on the front grille to the rear taillights. It comes in 13 colors with the addition of Eruption Green and Mischievous Purple.

Interior

All Mustang models seat four people except for the Shelby GT 500, which seats two. The classic 2+2 focuses on front passenger comfort. The base model offers a 4-way manually adjustable seat while the passenger’s seat uses two-way. They are covered in cloth fabric. Packages like the Premium with power adjustments for the seats and leather are available for those wanting more luxury and comfort.

Technology

The SYNC 3 infotainment system offers drivers the ultimate experience. It has a sleek user-friendly interface to make it easy to navigate through the apps. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available. A 4-inch touchscreen is standard while drivers may upgrade to an 8-inch touchscreen.

Safety Features

The Ford Co-Pilot360 system is a collection of driver assistance technologies that help drivers drive safely. It includes features like a Blind Spot Information System, Cross Traffic Alert, and Pre-Collision Assist.
