The Ford F-150 pickup truck continues to be a popular choice for any truck driver, and for many good reasons. This capable pickup has a trim for every need, a strong engine lineup, and comes well-equipped with standard features. The 2021 F-150 received a complete makeover with changes both inside and out. Here's a quick look at what you can get with the updated 2021 Ford F-150.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
Ford offers the F-150 in the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and the high-end Platinum and Limited trims. Stepping up from the base to the XLT gets you fog lights and a power-locking rear liftgate, but moving up through the trims adds even more convenience features such as LED bed lighting, a Class IV trailer hitch, and LED headlights and taillights. The top-level Limited comes standard with extras such as power-deployable running boards, a two-panel moonroof, and a power up-and-down tailgate. This tailgate also configures into a work surface and has a tailgate step.
Engine (Power)
The engine lineup has plenty of power, starting with the 3.3-liter V-6 that gets 290 horsepower. A 2.7-liter turbo V-6 is an available option that generates 325 horsepower, or you can get a 5.0-liter V-8 with 400 horsepower. The diesel option in the lineup is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel that puts out 250 horsepower, and for even more power, choose the 3.5-liter turbo V-6 with 400 horsepower.
Performance
The F-150 delivers when it comes to all types of performance. It can tow up to 14,000 pounds and carry 3,325 pounds in the bed. Every trim offers four-wheel drive. If you want more capabilities over rough terrain, Ford offers the off-road Tremor with an upgraded suspension, a front bash plate, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and more.
Interior
The larger F-150 cabs have room for up to six people. Stepping up to the midlevel Lariat gets you features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and convenient power-adjustable front seats. The King Ranch adds heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel, and the Platinum adds massaging front seats. The technology in the F-150 starts with an 8-inch touch screen, the SYNC 4 infotainment system, Bluetooth, front-seat USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 12-inch touch screen comes in the Lariat, which also has a 12-inch gauge cluster and remote start. You'll get wireless charging, navigation and an upgraded Bang & Olufsen stereo in the King Ranch, and an 18-speaker stereo in the Limited.
Safety Features
Every 2021 Ford F-150 comes with advanced safety features such as a forward-collision warning, a rearview camera, pedestrian detection, and forward automatic emergency braking. The XLT adds a blind-spot monitor, rear automatic braking, and lane-keep assist, and the King Ranch adds adaptive cruise control, intersection assist, and evasive steering assist. You'll get a 360-degree surround-view camera in the Limited, along with the hardware for Ford's upcoming Active Drive Assist system. A traffic sign recognition system is an added feature in the Platinum and the Limited.
