2021 Ford EcoSport
The EcoSport is Ford's subcompact crossover. This small SUV provides the tall seating position driver's look for in a crossover, comes with a conventional transmission instead of a CVT, and has the latest tech features you want when you need to stay connected while on the road. The 2021 EcoSport carries over without any significant changes, and here's a look at some of the details.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level EcoSport S has 16-inch alloy wheels, black molded door handles, a black painted grille, and integrated blind-spot mirrors. Step up to the SE for LED running lights, fog lights, roof rails, keyless entry, and a sunroof. Up next, the SES is the sporty version of the EcoSport. It has a sport-tuned suspension, body-colored door handles, black 17-inch wheels, and black roof rails. The high-end Titanium adds a chrome grille, power-adjustable and heated side exterior mirrors, silver-painted roof rack and side rails, and halogen quad-beam projector headlights with LED signature lighting.
An Appearance Package for the SE adds 17-inch wheels, or you can step up to the higher trims to make this standard.
Engine (Power)
The standard powertrain for every EcoSport is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder gas engine that puts out 123 horsepower and generates 125 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard at every trim level. All-wheel drive is optional for any trim and comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 166 horsepower. Both EcoSport engines use a six-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
The base engine powers the small EcoSport with relative ease, but the turbo option provides quicker and smoother acceleration while still providing similar fuel economy. A responsive steering system combined with its small footprint makes the EcoSport easy to drive and maneuver in tight spaces.
Interior
Inside the EcoSport, there's room for up to five people. The cargo area is surprisingly spacious for its class, with over 20 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear seats. Fold the back seats down, and this opens up to 50 cubic feet. The entry-level model comes with cloth upholstery, air conditioning, and power locks while stepping up to the SE gets you automatic climate control and heated front seats. A power-adjustable driver's seat is also a standard feature in the SE. The top-level Titanium adds a heated steering wheel and comes with leather upholstery.
Technology features start with two USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and a six-speaker stereo system. The SE upgrades to an 8-inch touch-screen display, and adds integrated navigation, satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Ford makes several tech upgrades available, including a nine-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo system if you step up the Titanium, which also adds HD radio, and the option to add a 110-volt power outlet as part of the SE Convenience Package.
Safety Features
Every EcoSport has a rearview camera and comes with Ford's MyKey system that allows parents to set parameters and monitor their teen's driving habits. The SE adds rear parking sensors and offers the option for a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, and the SES comes with rain-sensing windshield wipers.
